LOCATION
The United States Naval Academy (www.usna.edu) is located
in Annapolis, Maryland’s historic state capital. The US Naval Academy is
a one-of-a-kind location for the 2005 World Cup, which will offer
participants the unique experience of living on the campus of a US
military institution as well as the picturesque setting of America’s
charmingly historic sailing capital. The Naval Academy’s campus is
located within walking distance (one-block) from downtown Annapolis, which
is packed with boutiques, sidewalk cafes, restaurants and Bed and
Breakfasts.
The 338-acre campus, referred to as “The Yard”, is located
within reasonable driving distance from major East Coast cities: 20 miles
southeast of Baltimore, 30 miles east of Washington, DC, 120 miles from
Philadelphia, and less than five hours (220 miles) from New York City.
The Baltimore-Washington International Airport, Dulles International
Airport and Reagan National Airport are all less than one hour from
downtown Annapolis.
The Annapolis waterfront offers an escape from the humidity
and record-breaking summer temperatures of its neighboring cities of
Baltimore and Washington D.C. The average high temperature for Annapolis
in June is 84 degrees Fahrenheit (27 degrees Celsius); the average low is
63 degrees Fahrenheit (16 degrees Celsius), and the June rainfall averages
3.4 inches.

June 19, 2005 and will be offered housing through the evening of
July 2, 2005. Teams must arrive by the evening of June 21, 2005.
The facilities at the US Naval Academy will be available for scheduled

healthy alternatives. The meal plan will be all-inclusive with breakfast,
lunch and dinner, and will be available to all members of the team’s
official party according to the IFWLA guidelines. We are planning a

VENUE
The Yard features state-of-the-art sports facilities. The
US Naval Academy has granted US Lacrosse the permission to use both the
Navy-Marine Corps Memorial Stadium, the future site of the 2005 Women’s
NCAA Lacrosse Championships, and the Glenn Warner Soccer Facility for the
World Cup Championships. The schedule of play and the determinate of how
each of these stadiums will be used are yet to be finalized.
The Glen Warner Soccer Facility, situated on The Yard, will
be an impressive site as well as an intimate setting to hold the 2005
IFWLA World Cup Championships. Dedicated in 2001, the Glenn Warner Soccer
Facility
can accommodate 3,000 fans, and is equipped with 4 locker rooms for
practice and game situations, facilities for visiting teams and officials,
training rooms, equipment storage rooms, restrooms and concession areas.
The structure itself offers a grand entrance with tall windows looking out
onto the field, and this lobby will serve as an exceptional VIP
hospitality area.

Housing, meals, practice fields and the Glen Warner Soccer
Facility are all located on The Yard, within walking distance from each
other.
Navy-Marine Corps Memorial Stadium, in which we may stage
the final day of competition, is located less than two miles from the US
Naval Academy. It has plenty of free parking and the total seating
capacity is 34,000. The World Cup will only use the lower section of the
north side, which seats 9,000 spectators. Recent construction includes a
main concourse, 12 corporate hospitality suites, and a state of the art
press box.

Major components of the stadium include:
