The Haudenosaunee National Women’s Lacrosse Team is currently seeking to fill the following positions in preparation for the IFWLA World Cup taking place in Czech Republic, 2009.  All positions are commitments for the duration of one (1) year on a voluntary basis.  Deadline for applications is MONDAY, June 16/08.

All countries are asked to consider people who could be nominated for IFWLA Recognition Awards in 2008.  These will be discussed by the Officers and recommended to Council in August 2008.  Nominations should reach IFWLA VP Administration Sue Redfern (S.Clegg@roehampton.ac.uk) no later than June 1 and must be fully completed by the country making the nomination.  [Details & Form]

If any country wishes to nominate someone as an Honorary Member they should make their nomination to IFWLA VP Administration Sue Redfern (S.Clegg@roehampton.ac.uk) no later than no later than June 1, 2008  [Details]  [Form].   

This award is presented at the World Cup and whilst it will be discussed at Council, details will not be circulated in advance, as we try to keep the nominations and decisions confidential.

Bids to host the Women's U19 World Championship in 2011 should be sent to IFWLA VP Administration Sue Redfern (S.Clegg@roehampton.ac.uk) no later than May 1 2008 for inclusion in the papers for the IFWLA conference.  Bids should be relatively brief and cover the information in the world event guidelines.  Countries submitting a formal bid, will have an opportunity to make an extended presentation at the IFWLA Competitions and Council meetings in Finland in August.  (Please note that if there is any problem in meeting the deadline (eg because of a Board meeting in your country which is after that date) you should contact me as soon as possible to renegotiate.)

The dates are now confirmed for the ILF and IFWLA meetings in the summer in Lahti, Finland and for the General Assembly.  More information will be forthcoming soon from both the Transition Board and from the IFWLA. 

     IFWLA 4 - 6 August (arrival on August 3rd)

     IFWLA delegates will also be invited to stay on for an event on the evening of 7th.

          Please note that if the decision is made to unify, these will be the FINAL meetings of the IFWLA. 

          (There will be no IFWLA meetings after World Cup in 2009 and there is no General Assembly in 2009). 

     General Assembly of the new unified body on 7th.

Recommendation on the Use of Eyewear for USA and International Teams (US Lacrosse)

The US Lacrosse Insurance/Risk Management Committee has recommended the following in reference to the use of appropriately certified eyewear for the women’s game.  Eyewear has been mandated for use beginning in 2005 for anyone playing on a team based in the United States.  (USL Women’s Lacrosse Rule Book).  The wearing of ASTM certified/ PECC tested eyewear for international teams at US Lacrosse sanctioned events, while highly recommended, will not be mandated.

RIH Orthopaedic Foundation, Inc. (www.rihof.org) offers official compliance testing for women’s lacrosse crosses as the authorized testing laboratory for the IFWLA.  Both goalie and field player crosses will be tested to the 2003 IFWLA Field Crosse Specification Rule 3.
